MASTER OF SCIENCE

1. Main subject studies

Compulsory courses, 10 cr

  • Design and Analysis of Algorithms, 5 cr
  • Introduction to Machine Learning, 5 cr

Optional courses, 24 cr

  • At least one of the following options
    • Biological Sequence Analysis, 5 cr, and
    • Project in Biological Sequence Analysis, 2 cr
    • OR
    • Algorithms in Molecular Biology, 5cr, and
    • Algorithms in Molecular Biology project, 2cr
  • Advanced studies in bioinformatics 17 cr according to the approved personal study plan (FM-HOPS)

Seminars 6 cr

Master's thesis 40 cr

2. Minor subject studies

The studies at the sub-programme require good mathematical skills and basic undestanding of molecular biology. It is recommended that students take at least 35 cr courses in mathematics and statistics and at least 25 cr of courses in molecular biology or related topic as part of their Bachelor's or Master's degrees.
