Smart watches, i.e., watches which are equipped with sensors and the possibility to run third party applications, are starting to emerge to the market. Gesture recognition is an interesting application for smart watches since the devices are placed on the wrist/arm in a fixed position. The objective of the thesis is to carry out a literature survey on gesture recognition methods that would be applicable on smart watches and to carry out a comparative evaluation of state-of-the-algorithms.
