Radio controlled drones are providing a new cost solution for short range aerial surveillance. However, current interfaces for controlling drones are cumbersome, relying on mobile phone applications that provide a “joystick” on the touchpad of the device and video stream from the drone. The objective of this Thesis is to develop and evaluate a novel interface for controlling the movements of the drone together with a smart watch based gesture interface and an immersive augmented reality feed from the environment.
