Mobile Offloading in Wireless Broadband Access

The huge success of mobile Internet has brought both benefits and challenges to mobile users and network operators. Due to the increase of user generated data traffic overloading mobile networks, offloading mobile traffic to alternative accesses such as WiFi and Bluetooth is becoming a topical area to investigate. The core tasks of this subject include:

  • explore the energy impact of offloading for mobile systems
  • study key design and proposals for mobile offloading
  • participate in implementation and testing in operational wireless broadband networks
  • analyse measurement results

Desirable candidates are expected to have:

  • BSc degree or corresponding studies
  • Hands-on network programming skills 
  • Knowledge of Internet and mobile networking protocols
  • Good analytic skills
  • Eager and willing to learn new things
