Partially ordered set (poset) structures are extensively
used in distributed systems.  For example, they are used to represent
temporal relations between messages and events,
and relations between queries. This work involves
preparing a survey of poset algorithms and their
applications in distributed systems. The work
may also include the design and implementation
of optimizations to these structures.
