Abstract
In this seminar series, the explanations of the current and future Internet architecture will be given and the implications and research directions of the Information Centric Networking (ICN) architecture will be investigated. For the current Internet architecture, main components and key mechanisms like the autonomous systems (AS) concept, address resolution (i.e. DNS), intra-AS routing protocols (i.e., OSPF), and inter-AS routing protocols (i.e., BGP) will be discussed. Regarding the ICN architecture, corresponding mechanisms that have been proposed in the ICN architecture for name resolution, intra-AS routing, and inter-AS routing will be discussed; their differences and similarities will be elaborated.
The seminar series will be in English.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the seminar series, students are expected to learn the main components of the current Internet architecture as well as the proposed mechanisms for these components in the ICN architecture. Students are expected to draw comparisons and similarities between mechanisms developed for name resolution, intra-AS routing, and inter-AS routing in both the current AS architecture and ICN architecture which is envisioned to be a fundamental part of the Future Internet architecture.
Course Schedule and Reading List
