Wellbeing at work
The wellbeing-at-work team at the department
There is a permanent wellbeing team at the departmentfor suggesting, developing and coordinating measures for promoting wellbeing in our workplace. The person responsible for the work of the team is Planning Secretary Inka Kujala. Other team members are IT Specialist Jani Jaakkola, Amanuensis Teija Kujala, University Lecturer Tiina Niklander, University Lecturer Antti-Pekka Tuovinen and Communications Officer Pauliina Pajunen. Suggestions and all kinds of feedback are welcome at hyvinvointi-list(at)cs.helsinki.fi.
The Department of Computer Science offers its employees various services to promote their wellbeing, and organises different recreational events every year. At the department, employees have the following at their service:
- A massaging chair: room C209. Turn the sign on the door so it says varattu (occupied) while you are using the chair, and turn it back to vapaa (unoccupied) when you leave.
- Massaging seats: there are two massaging seats in the break room (B225) that anyone can use.
- SAD lamps: three lamps, available for loan in office D243.
The annual recreational events for employees include the Christmas party, the winter sports day, and the two-day strategy seminar. In addition, the department organises a monthly assembly for staff and students, where current affairs are discussed. A few times each year, we have morning coffees for the staff of the department, with a talk from someone outside the department.
