Jukka Talvio, F-Secure

Jukka has more than 20 years of experience in software development. He has a background in programming, software testing and management. He has helped to define multiple company processes including stage gate and agile software development processes. He was the project owner of F-Secure software development agile transformation in 2005 - 2006. Jukka has a wide experience in various types and sizes of software development projects from small applications to large safety critical medical systems.

 

Sami Lilja, Reaktor Innovations

Sami has more than 15 years of experience in software development, people and team leadership and Agile & Lean coaching and mentoring. At Reaktor Sami works as Agile and Lean coach and participates in Agile transformation on a practical level. Sami has deep experience in complex Agile transformation implementation involving various locations and simultaneous projects.

About Sami's session

Scrum is the most widely used Agile method. Goal of Scrum is to produce the highest customer value in the shortest time. In order to achieve this, Scrum provides full transparency to SW development and ability to react quickly to changes and learning.

In this session, Sami Lilja will first briefly introduce Scrum method and its key characteristics. After that, participants will run a simulation in small groups. The purpose of this energizing and fun simulation is to highlight essentials of Scrum and learn the importance of rapid feedback, customer involvement and transparency.

 

Nilay Oza, University of Helsinki

Dr. Nilay Oza has 10+ years of diverse research contribution and leadership experience that spans from overall technology direction, organizational innovation, software engineering, empirical research, social community networks, and global outsourcing relationships to large-­‐scale R&D programs. He has also contributed to several European initiatives, and the National (Finnish) technology agency.  He has an extensive record on qualitative research, public speaking, organizing international community events and publishing scientific papers. Nilay also acts as a board member in a Finnish and a UK  based technology company. 

About Nilay's session

In this session, you will participate in a team simulation game that has underlying learning on customer discovery based on learn start-up principles. Participants need not have any prior knowledge of agile or lean methods.

 

Damien Higgins, Twinelab

Damien Higgins is currently responsible for Twinelabs GTM (Go to Market) approach. He has 15+ years of telecoms experience, ranging from network operators (Telstra, Australia) and manufacturers (Nokia Networks in Australia, Switzerland, Finland) to services (Nokia services division, Finland and Singapore).

Damien has previously worked on Nokia’s messaging services (Email, IM and Social Networking), as well as Nokia’s own IM and Email services as the Global GTM lead for Nokia’s own email and chat service -- taking the service from 3000 to over 20M user activations. He has also worked across Nokia’s Sales Units service leads and selected countries to execute GTM targets.

 

Mikael Nylund, Twinelab

Mikael is the Principal Engineer at TwineLAB. He has 14+ years of telecom / IT experience in various roles (Developer, Team Leader, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Package Owner, Career Counselor) and several different technology areas, including fixed access management (telephony lines), UI development, 3G billing development, mobile VPN, Bluetooth, embedded systems and driver development.
