OpenFlow is an open standard that allows to run experimental protocols in production networks. OpenFlow is a feature added to switches, routers, access points (APs) and basestations, allowing these datapath devices to be controlled through an external, standardized API. Major switch vendors are now implementing the system and it is used by universities to deploy innovative networking technology. Basically, OpenFlow is a software-defined Ethernet switch. Software-defined
networking is expected to be one of the new emerging research topics in computer networking.
In this MSc topic you will investigate OpenFlow and test its features in a testbed.
