12.12. 2014
Last exercise starts 12.00 sharp.I'll be around from 10 onwards for those who want to discuss any exercises beforehand, get their exercise points corrected (still some of them missing from everyone).
Exam opens right after the exercise session.
Some comments on passing the course:
- There are still systematically missing points from exercises 3,4, 8- in case you wonder. I try to complete book-keeping on Friday morning. In terms of exercise points, most of you have more than enough exercise points, and most of those who seem to hesitate only need either get the above mentioned markings completed or be present in the final session.
- It is easier to take the home exam now with materials available than take the separate exam without materials in-class style afterwards. In case of practical problems, please feel free to come and agree on the process.
9.12. 2014
Today we reached the end of the conclusion slides. Therefore, on Friday there is no official lecture. Instead, the room and my assistance is available for any problems or clarifications you wish. As the Friday exercise may be longish, we try to start 12.00! (For a part of the group, the lecture time overlaps with other things, so we cannot collectively start earlier.)

You can now view at TIKLI your accumulated exercise points. The markings for exercises is per task given (in contrast to by session) and learning diaries have been marked as projects/homeworks. Activity in the joint discussion counts in exercises that have a 2 point max, and learning diaries have been graded with 5 point max taking into consideration on how many of the supporting questions had been addressed and number of misunderstandings in the text.
There is one task that I am skipping totally in the grading, namely the unfortunate ESB task, where an incoherent broken text was left on the web page. In the potential rare cases where this would make a difference in the final course grade (close miss of the minimum 10 p for exercises), it will be judged for your benefit.
There is still one task missing from the listing: the exercise on enterprise architecture. We have so far seen one of the groups to present that, and we have not had an opportunity to discuss any of the others. I will add points on that for everyone when I have seen the rest and have given feedback on them as well. So, email me (with course name + task name on subject line) your current version or show it to me during some break. Remember that there were no expectation to fill in all boxes in your charts, but only to match your basic idea to this form.

Added some hints and term translations across articles to ease the exercises.
25.11.2014
For the last two exercise sessions, the small discussion groups need to work on individual elements and therefore select their reading material from the shared list beforehand. This way we get coverage of a larger amount of articles and can share findings for the comparison of different ways of arranging ecosystem support functions. Self-organisation is called for here! For each element, additional advise is given in order to orchestrate the walk through of results.
25.11.2014
Advise on the exam process have been added to the exercises pages.
24.11. 2014
All learning diaries so far have been commented by email. In addition, a general commentary is available at the exercises directory.
On Friday we did not have time to go through the enterprise architecture drafts you have worked out earlier. In case we will continue having shortage of exercies session time for these, the remaining preparation groups can submit their EAs through this form and receive comments.
18.11.2014
Did take a look at ecosystem and collaboration terminology in various maturity states, and the collaboration forming styles (integration, unification and federation). Will walk through of Chapter 6 themes on multi-agent systems, ontologies, model driven engineering, and reflective systems before starting with the ecosystem examples of Chapter 5. So far covered agents and ontologies, continue on models and reflection, and system examples on Friday.
Those how are not familiar with middleware topics: view slides at 6-infrastructure-mw.pdf. These elements belong to pre-requisite courses, but it is quick to point out the relevant challenges and terminology as required. If needs arise, we take this discussion before or after lecture on Friday, for example.
13.11. 2014
Lecture: starting with business process definition, especially for choreography style. Continuing with collaboration view.
Exercises: run through the business models created last week, turn them to enterprise architecture overviews, prepare for learning diary writing due next week.
12.11. 2014
A brief clarification on the order in which we walk through the "chapters" in the materials-page outline: After opening our case studies in the collaboration view chapter briefly, we jump to the platform aspects (such as model driven engineering, bindings and ESB, agents and reflective systems, ontologies), to come back to study the case study details with better understanding on the basis on which they can be built.
1.11.2014
If the course exercise time is overlapped with other studies and is a problem, do contact me to agree on alternative way of performing the exercises and the course itself.
Many of you have an overlapping event with Friday lecture. This does not prevent you from participating the course. For each "chapter" there is related reading material listed at the page "materials" together with the slides. Especially the papers marked with C give an alternative material, if you follow the guiding quesitons when reading the papers. There is a lot of "extra material" outside our interest in those papers too, so the questions are intended to define the scope of focus. Do not hesitate asking questions left by the reading material or other open questions, at exercises or otherwise (email is a slooooow method), though.
30.10.2014
An additional questionnaire question arises: please visit the additional form
30.10.2014
The questionnaire results are promising, and it seems I change a lot of the reading material in comparison to previous years. Therefore, be warned that the drafts on exercises are likely to change in terms of the reading material. The full course reading list will be published around weekend,
28.10. 2014
Course started. Please note that this week there is no exercise session but do fill in the questionnaire that you can find in Main page tab under Exercises, questionnaires and exams.
23.10.2014:
Please make sure you have passed the pre-requisite courses before registering: Distributed systems or Software architectures/Service-oriented software engineering with MDE. It is fine if your course is still in progess and you feel assured you will pass it this term.
22.10.2014:
The course have to offer 5 cu instead of the old 4 cu. Although the main themes and learning objectives remain the same, we have now space for more technical detail, and updates on existing system examples, bringing up information on recent developments.
