Health informatics is a discipline at the intersection of information science, computer science, and healthcare. The course focuses on healthcare interoperability, which is a topical and actively studied field of health informatics. The course deals with the principles of clinical documentation as well as health interoperability methods and standards focusing on the conceptual, document and messaging standards created by the HL7 (Health Level Seven) organization. In addition, the course deals with clinical terminologies focusing on the ontology-based healthcare terminology SNOMED CT that can be used to retrieve and analyze clinical data.
